British tennis star Alicia Dudeney’s impressive year continued this weekend as she claimed her biggest title of the year in Nottingham.
The 23-year-old defeated fellow Brit Naiktha Bains 6-3, 7-6 with a strong performance in the final of the W50 event in Nottingham, securing her fifth singles title of the year and her first at this level.
Graduating from university in the United States last year, the young Brit’s steady rise through the professional ranks in the last 12 months saw her ranked as the top seed for the tournament – and she fully justified that with her impressive displays throughout the week.
She dropped just one set along the way to the trophy and overcame teenage British star Hannah Klugman in the semi-finals, beating the 17-year-old 6-3, 6-4.
Alongside her five singles titles in 2026, Dudeney has also picked up three more doubles titles in what has been a standout year for the Brighton-born tennis player.
Just last month, the British player made her WTA Tour main-draw appearance in Nottingham before making her debut at Wimbledon in the women’s singles draw after receiving a wildcard, falling to defeat to American Aylcia Parks in the first round.
Her strong run of form since graduating last year from the University of Florida now sees her jump to a career high of 223rd in the WTA rankings and on course for the US Open qualifying next month.
