Who has been named in the GB team for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals?

Katie Boutler has been named in the British team for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in China this September.

The British number two comes in for Katie Swan, who reached the second round of Wimbledon last month, in a team that otherwise remains unchanged from their qualifying win against Australia.

Boutler is joined by Harriet Dart, 17-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic and Jodie Burrage as they begin their campaign against the Czech Republic on Tuesday 22 September in Shenzhen, China.

Emma Raducanu, the British number one, has not been named in the squad after struggling with injury and illness so far this year.

“It’s a great achievement to reach the Billie Jean King Cup Finals again and today I am naming my initial nominations for the GB team,” said Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup Captain Anne Keothavong.

“I’m pleased to select Katie Boulter who knows what it’s like to step up on occasions like this and the three women who played with so much heart and courage to upset Australia earlier this year, namely Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic and Jodie Burrage.

“Czechia will be a very challenging first match for us but the players and I believe in our chances, since we have a very strong record in recent final.”

The Brits reached the Finals of the Billie Jean Cup after an upset away victory over Australia in April, which included singles victories for Dart and Stojsavljevic, plus a doubles win for Dart and Burrage, earning a 4-1 win in Melbourne.

Keothavong will have the option of a fifth team member closer to the event.
